07 May OUT & ABOUT BUDAPEST: SHORTLISTED KINDERGARTEN OPENS ITS DOORS

The Mies van der Rohe Prize was awarded for the 17th time this year. Founded in 1988, the European Union Architecture Prize recognises outstanding achievements in contemporary European architecture, focusing on the complexity of architecture. The award, which is presented every two years, therefore emphasises the conceptual, socio-cultural, constructional and aesthetic aspects of the prize-winning projects, but also the contribution of the buildings to a sustainable, intelligent European city.

Of the approximately 100 Hungarian projects submitted since then, two have made it to the shortlist so far: in 2009, the Práter Street apartment building designed by Péter Kis, this year the Vizafogó kindergarten by Archikon architects.

This May, the Out & About – Discovering Architecture festival will celebrate its premiere, during which all shortlisted buildings in more than 25 cities will open their doors.

The Vizafogó kindergarten will be there on Saturday, 21 May from 10 am to 12 pm. The interior tour of the kindergarten will be conducted by the architects from Archikon architects and GA Budapest. We will start at the brand new Vizafogó Park (here) with an introduction to the history of the Vizafogó neighborhood in the 13th district.

We look forward to see you!
